About “The Flyers Blog”
The Orange Crush was designed as a website made for the greatest hockey fans in the world, the fans of the Philadelphia Flyers National Hockey League club. From the year of their inception in 1967 to the present, the history of the franchise has grown deeper – and stronger – every year. My goal is to bring you, the fans, a unique perspective into the daily events surrounding the Flyers, whether it be gameday and postgame discussion, or just my thoughts on topics revolving around the team. Nothing is off limits, and I welcome anything and everything concerning the Orange and Black to this blog.
A little about myself:
My name is Josh Getzoff and I am a die-hard Philadelphia Flyers fan. Some – ok, many – would argue that my fandom is unhealthy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I worship this team and while I am a true Philadelphia sports fan through thick and thin, the Flyers will always be at the top of my totem pole. I went to my first game in 1993 (I was 5) against the Vancouver Canucks, fell asleep in the first period, woke up in the third, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I really had no choice in the matter: I’ve seemed destined to be a Flyers die-hard ever since I was brought home from the hospital in a baby-sized Bernie Parent Flyers jersey, a request of my father’s. My dad’s been a season ticket holder since 1968 with the Flyers and he’s the main reason my love for them has grown so deeply.
I am currently a Senior at Ithaca College studying Television-Radio with a minor in Sports Studies. My life revolves around sports, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My career goal is to become on-air talent in the field of broadcast journalism, and I’m hoping this blog gives me experience to continue my journey in that direction.
