Game Recap: Flyers vs. New York Islanders

The Philadelphia Flyers continued their unbelievable dominance of the New York Islanders last night, crushing the visitors by a final of 6-1.  The win marked the third straight victory for the Flyers, their first 3-game win streak of the season.  Now, onto some quick hits from the contest:

–  So much for the defenseman not being able to score on this club: Kimmo Timonen scored the opening goal for the Flyers, and Chris Pronger scored his first two goals of the season.

–  Sergei Bobrovsky has started every game in the three game winning streak, and made 30 saves for his fifth win of the season.

–  Jeff Carter also had two goals on the night.

–  The Flyers were outshot for the second consecutive game, 31-29.

–  Braydon Coburn led all Flyers in ice time with 23:42 played.

–  Dan Carcillo took a total of 22 penalty minutes in the game, Danny Briere took 17.

Chris Pronger collected his first two goals of the season last night

–  Andreas Nodl scored his second goal of the season, and second in as many games.

–  Both Nodl and Andrej Meszaros sustained “upper body injuries” in the contest and will likely be out for some time.

–  The Flyers converted twice on the powerplay (Carter, Pronger)

–  The Flyers’ Dad’s Trip was a successful 2-0-0 with wins over New York and Pittsburgh.  Always a good thing when the dads bring good luck.
