Updates: First Period Play Killing Flyers

The Flyers need a MUCH better opening frame in Game Four

In the playoffs, many will argue that the first period is the most important to a game.  It gives a team, whether on home ice or visiting on the road, the opportunity to draw first blood on the scoreboard and take control of the action and establish a flow in their favor early on.

Today, Sarah Baicker of CSNPhilly.com has an article up on the station’s website about how the Flyers’ bad habit in this series of a poor first period finally came back to haunt them Thursday night.  Montreal feeds off their ferocious Bell Centre crowd incredibly well and as a result were able to bust open a 2-0 lead against the Flyers last night.  If the Flyers are going to have any chance of playing their type of game in the fourth contest of this series, they must do a better job of dictating the play early on.
