Updates: Leighton Gets a Chance

The Flyers certainly hope Leighton can gain back his pre-injury swagger for Wednesday night

CSNPhilly.com’s Sarah Baicker has an article up on the station’s website today about the incredible situation that transpired last night in Boston.  With the Flyers up 1-0 in the second period, Brian Boucher had Ryan Parent land on him in the front of the net, injuring both his knees, and rendering him out of the remainder of this series, and possibly beyond.  The answer?  Remember Michael Leighton?

In this piece, Baicker talks about how heading into Game Five, Leighton was just happy to be back on the bench with his teammates and in uniform, and never in his wildest dreams expected to be in between the pipes.  However, so goes the Flyers goaltending carousel.  Leighton made 14 saves to preserve a joint shutout between he and Brian Boucher and help the Flyers send this series back to Philadelphia.  He will be the starting goaltender Wednesday night at the Wachovia Center.
