Updates: Lappy Won’t Need Surgery, But Set To Miss Parts of Round 2

If Ian Laperriere is possibly missing time, it's usually a good indication as to the severity of the injury

According to a very recent post by Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com (and this even more recent Tweet), Ian Laperriere will not need to undergo surgery after sustaining what was believed to be a broken orbital bone in Game Five of the Flyers’ Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Series.

Still, the injury concern for Laperriere likely means he is out for most – if not all – of the next round and would be a severe blow to a penalty kill unit that relied so heavily upon his ability to pressure shooters and block shots.  More on this story as it develops, but for the time, check out Panaccio’s article here: CSN PHILLY

UPDATE (5:19 PM EST): Here is the tweet that says it all from Panaccio.  This is a very serious issue and I’m just glad Lappy is going to be sitting out to get care for this.  Just hearing brain contusion makes me nauseous.  You’re in our prayers, Lappy.  Get well soon!
